metro’billy (me’trō bil ē)
n., pl. –lies, adj.
1. an individual with an urban mindset who lives in a small town or rural habitat, and whose cultural reference points reach beyond his or her immediate locale.
2. a person who shares the sophisticated fashion tastes of those who live in a metropolis, but who also enjoys rubbing elbows with those who live in backwoods country.
3. of, like, or pertaining to metrobillies: metrobilly lifestyle
Metrobillies enjoy art openings as well as dirt track racing. They drink well-mixed martinis and canned beer with equal zeal.
Metrobillies don’t necessarily embrace polar opposites. Instead, they embrace two different cultures simultaneously, while appreciating the contradictions and humor (both intentional and unintentional) that ensue.
