WE WON AN AIA DESIGN AWARD, AND KEVIN’S NOW A FULL-FLEDGED ARCHITECT!

JULY 20, 2009

James R. Wilkins, Sr. Gallery of History and Art

Reader & Swartz Architects, P.C. recently won a design award from the Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The Award of Merit in Historic Architecture is for our project called “Jocks, Nerds, and National Treasures.” This is a plan for exhibits at Handley High School, including the James R. Wilkins, Sr. Gallery of History and Art. The gallery showcases reproductions of the paintings that the Corcoran Gallery of Art secretly stored in a basement vault at Handley, for safekeeping during World War II. The graphic design firm for the Wilkins Gallery was Water Street Design, LLC of Winchester. You can view all of the 2009 AIA NOVA Design Award winners here. Ours is the first project listed.

Kevin’s a licensed architect!

We are very pleased to announce that Kevin Walker recently passed his architectural registration exam, and is now a licensed architect!

After successfully completing the Architectural Registration Exams, Kevin’s 6 years of office hazing have finally come to an end. He is now allowed to work unencumbered, no longer having to wear the alien mask.
