HANDLEY LIBRARY CHILDREN’S GARDEN
WINCHESTER, VIRGINIA

The garden will be located behind a beautiful 1913 Beaux Arts library with a 1979 addition on the corner of Fairfax Lane and Braddock Street. It turns a drab, nonfunctional space into an aesthetic and useful part of the library’s landscape.  This space will be used for children’s and other programs, and will provide individuals a place to sit, read, and relax. The garden will honor the traditional style of the building but bring color and life through the use of benches, pavers, banners, art made by kids, and other hardscape and native and sustainable plants.
